Meetings

The inaugural meeting of 'Protecting Burstall's Rural Character', held on 22nd June 2026, was a very successful and constructive meeting, with excellent attendance and lots of activity planned but not restricted to:

- Setting up a WhatsApp Group called ‘Protecting Burstall’s Rural Character’ to keep everyone informed and updated.

- ⁠Village webpage updated regularly with what’s going on under the banner of ‘Protecting Burstall’s Rural Character’.

- A drone flight has been arranged to take place on Monday, 29th June 2026 in order to capture the rural landscape / character of Burstall, together with an inventory of trees.

- ⁠Compile an inventory of trees including using the Woodland Trust online tool.

- ⁠Use iNaturalist (easy to use phone app) to add to the official database of flora and fauna in Burstall.

- ⁠use Merlin/ eBird to add a Burstall ‘hotspot’ so recording of birds can be official.

- ⁠Unearth and remount the ancient marker stone on Cooks Lane.

- ⁠Fundraising ideas - beer/ barn dance event, quiz night etc etc. All ideas readily accepted! 

- ⁠A ‘protecting Burstall’s rural character’ stand at the Burstall Show.

- ⁠Look to arrange key individuals to come to the village and perhaps speak.

- ⁠Contact other organisations for involvement.
